Aaron Staton is an American actor. Born in August 1980 and is best known for playing the role of Ken Cosgrove in the drama series Mad Men (2007 to 2015). He is also known for his role as Cole Phelps in the video game series LA Noire, for which he received a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor award.
Staton was born in Huntington, West Virginia, and grew up primarily in Jacksonville, Florida. After graduating from Terry Parker High School, he attended Carnegie Mellon School of Drama. In 2004, he made his stage debut in the Broadway production of Mamma Mia!.
The following year, the actor landed a role on television and his career soon took off also on the big screen. Since then, Aaron Staton has grown into one of the most prolific television actors in the American show business world. He is admired for his dedication and brilliant acting skills.

After Aaron Staton’s first Broadway role in Mamma Mia! In 2004, he was cast in a television commercial. In 2005, he appeared in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The following year he played the role of Daniel in the drama series 7th Heaven.
In 2007 he was cast as Ken Cosgrove in the historical television series ‘Mad Men. Set primarily in the 1960s at a fictional advertising agency in New York City, the series follows the daily work of the advertising agency as well as the personal lives of its main characters.
“Mad Men” received critical acclaim for its acting, writing, direction, and historical authenticity. To date, it has won multiple awards including five Golden Globes and 16 Emmys.
Also in 2007, Aaron Staton made his film debut in the thriller Descent. He has also appeared in the hit films The Nanny Diaries and August Rush. The Nanny Diaries is about a college graduate who works as a nanny for a wealthy, dysfunctional family.
On the other hand, “August Rush” focuses on a young musical prodigy who runs away from an orphanage to solve the mystery of his birth. In 2008, the actor made a guest appearance in the episode “A New Leper in the Colony” of “Imaginary Bitches”. Two years later, he appeared in the lead role in the short film Boy Meets Girl.

Aaron Staton has also made appearances in television series such as Law & Order: SVU, 7th Heaven, and Without a Trace.
From 2011 to 2013, Staton starred in dramas The Good Wife, Newsreaders, and Person of Interest. He later starred as Mike Neary in the film ‘Preservation’ alongside Wrenn Schmidt, Cody Saintgnue, and Pablo Schreiber. In 2015 he got to play the role of Greg Donellen in the crime drama Ray Donovan.
In 2016 and 2017, Aaron Staton starred as JD in Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce, a comedy-drama about a self-help author who gradually finds solace in new adventures and friends as she faces her impending divorce. During this period he also played the role of Captain Ronald Dreyfuss in the British drama series My Mother and Other Strangers.

In 2018, Aaron Staton appeared in the TV series “For the People”, “Castle Rock” and “God Friended Me”. He has also portrayed the character of Butch Sears in the web TV series Narcos: Mexico since 2018. The series focuses on the illegal drug trade in Mexico and also stars actors Michael Peña, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Diego Luna, Alyssa Diaz, and José María Yazpik.
He voiced the character of Cole Phelps in the action-adventure video game LA Noire (2011). Originally launched for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the game follows a police officer as he solves multiple cases across five departments.

When asked about how he felt when shooting the last episodes of Mad Men, the emotional Aaron Staton stated this;
“It was emotional. And it was surreal. It was quite honestly, way more emotional, for the final shot of the whole series. To be honest, I don’t remember what that was, right off the top of my head. But that was more emotional than whatever my last shot was. Everybody had the last shot. That felt surreal. Both were surreal, but that one, the final shot- was more like a funeral”.
